Sweet Cakes, family owned and operated, is a traditional bakery with a retail coffee shop serving cakes, cupcakes, pastries, and cookies in the Ukrainian Village of Chicago. We use fresh ingredients and make everything from scratch right in our kitchen for you to enjoy in our cafe or in your home or office.
At Sweet Cakes, we believe that everyone should be able to enjoy a delicious, homemade sweet. We use our knowledge of traditional baking practices in an effort to accommodate food allergies, dietary restrictions, and the finicky palate. Our menu regularly features vegan options. We are happy to work with you to satisfy almost any special order.
Cakes and cupcakes are available everyday; you will usually find chocolate, vanilla, red velvet and carrot cake in both a 4” cake and regular sized cupcake. For your larger needs they can be special ordered 24 business hours in advance for special occasions – birthdays, office parties, or just entertaining friends - from a wider selection of flavors and frostings; call and ask what is currently available.
One of our signature items is the always popular Mini Cupcake. Each is just a few bites and they come in unique flavors developed from the original recipes of our Chief Baking Officer (CBO!). You will find the usually expected vanilla, as well as different tastes such as Mint Chocolate Chip, Root Beer Float, London Fog and Pink Lemonade.
Beyond cakes and cupcakes, we specialize in melt-in-your-mouth croissants, individual seasonal fruit tarts, light and buttery brioche, and a variety of cookies. Pair any of these delicious goodies with a cup of fresh-brewed coffee or tea, or made-to-order espresso drink while you relax in our comfortable and cheery coffee shop. Weather permitting, our patio is open during Chicago’s beautiful spring-to-fall weather. Our customers enjoy free WIFI to surf the web, catch up on email, or leisurely research their next project.
Advanced orders of any menu item can be placed over the counter or by phone and will be ready to pick up at your designated hour.
